Arcus had trialled three clinical AI products, and clinicians had abandoned all three. The pattern was consistent: each tool lived outside the clinical workflow, so using it cost more time than it saved.

Vertane took the opposite approach — no new interface. We embedded drafting and summarization into the existing clinical documentation system, built an evaluation set from two thousand reviewed historical notes, and kept a clinician approval step in the loop permanently rather than treating it as temporary scaffolding.

Documentation time fell 26% across the pilot sites, and adoption held above 80% a year after rollout — the number the previous three attempts never reached.
